Lee Roy Selmon has a history that combines family scholarship football and volunteering for the community. First of all, he was brought up with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the youngest of their nine children. He played second in football and was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers all made All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in nation by the Outland and Lombardi Awards. He was awarded two championships as well as the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as Oklahoma's main man. He was awarded a third scholarship in 1975 and named as an National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a degree in educational studies. Fourth-year service in the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduation, he moved into Tampa and played for nine years for the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro for three occasions. After that, he began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these organisations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. It was not a surprise when, in 1982, The Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy among the top 10 outstanding youngsters throughout the United States. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs during his time playing college football. He was a captain in 1975. led the squad. In 1993, he was named associate director of the University of South Florida. In 1988, he was voted into the College Football Hall of Fame. He also made the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 1989 the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave their Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Jr. Henry Bellmon is the Oklahoma governor who made this presentation.
