Anna Paquin was born in the city of Winnipeg, but was raised in Wellington. She began her acting career as Flora McGrath, her character in the romance film Piano. Paquin is a native of Canada and actress from New Zealand. Born in Winnipeg but brought up in Wellington the city where she was born, she was the first actress to appear in The Piano. In response to an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish pianist. Flora McGrath is the daughter of a muted Scottish musician who came into New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. The actress moved from New Zealand to United States as a teen. Paquin played a minor role in the role of Jane Eyre's title character while she was still a kid as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and an important role in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the TV version of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of the queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 feature film Amistad. She was a teenager as teenagers in Hurlyburly (1998) She's All That (1999) as well as A Walk on the Moon (1999) as well as the groupie Polexia Aphrodisa on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
